Connecting with the horses at Creating Harmony Within helped me ground and connect to the gentleness in the world and the gentleness within me and the spirit of the horse. ~ Cecil
What is a Labyrinth?
A labyrinth is meditation in motion or a path of prayer for purposeful meandering and a time of relaxation and reflection. It is a place of quiet in our noisy, chaotic, “hurry-up” world. It is not intended to confuse you or have dead ends like a maze. In a maze, you lose yourself. In a labyrinth, you find yourself. It guides you inward to the center and back out to where you began in a rhythm of wholeness.
A maze offers a choice of paths and dead ends; it is our cognitive mind (left brain) that loves to problem solve. Walking the labyrinth involves the creative and intuitive mind (right brain) and can be calming and balancing. It is a unicursal circular pattern symbolizing wholeness, unity, and the sacred in all of Creation.
It is an ancient symbol that has been found all over the world, and has been estimated to be over 3,500 years old in some forms. It comes in many different shapes and sizes. The Harmony Labyrinth is similar to the 13th century Chartres style found in the Chartres Cathedral in France where it is laid out on the floor.
What are the benefits of walking a labyrinth?
It has been found that walking the labyrinth is helpful in reducing stress and anxiety, and promoting well-being and relaxation. It is calming and centering, and if walked on a regular basis, can result in many health benefits. Some health benefits include lowered blood pressure, decreased pain, and relief from insomnia.
Labyrinths connect mind, body, and spirit to help you slow down, focus on your breathing, and release the chatter that constantly imbues your minds.
Change how your group and team work together. Create calm and focus to see transformations in all areas of the company.
