Things that make us laugh help us relax and are very healthy for us.
A friend of mine received my last “Calming Moments” email regarding the breath watchword or mantra and she shared that she was going to combine this with humour and laughter in this last week. So this week I thought I would share how having a good “belly laugh” can help us to feel focused, calm and effective.
Laughter is good for the soul.
It boosts your immune system, helps in fighting infections, lifts depression, fights dis-ease, decreases blood pressure, decreases stress hormones, increases endorphins, and will give you an improved sense of well-being.
Norman Cousins, who is thought to be the father of “laughter therapy”, healed himself of a life-threatening form of arthritis through his own self-treatment of laughter. He was given very little chance of recovering and when traditional therapies were not helping, Norman checked himself out of the hospital and into a hotel where he took mega doses of Vitamin C and watched funny movies. This allowed him to sleep pain free and eventually he became well again.
So rent a funny movie or watch a great TV sitcom like “I Love Lucy” or just play a game with a child and laugh to experience unrestricted joy and relieve the stress, anxiety and worry you may feeling in your day.
Here are a few funnies from http://jokes4us.com/miscellaneousjokes/cleanjokes.html that hopefully make you laugh or at least giggle!
Q: What happens if you eat yeast and shoe polish?
A: Every morning you’ll rise and shine!
Q: What’s the difference between a guitar and a fish?
A: You can’t tuna fish.
Q: Did you hear about the hungry clock?

All the best and remember to live in the “Rhythm of Life” and connect to the greatness that lies within for your utmost success and vitality!
