A great way to calm the chaos and relax the body with residual benefits long after you are finished the activity – is to exercise!
This doesn’t have to be complicated, expensive or grueling. It can be as simple as heading out for a walk.
Walking is a great activity that increases blood circulation and oxygen to the brain, and will help to lower blood pressure. It helps to “clear your mind” and energize your body. Overall it just makes you feel so much better!
It will engage your body to produce endorphins (which are natural mood enhancers) and help reduce feelings of stress and anxiety. There are numerous advantages for your health and well-being so again don’t overcomplicate it—just put on a pair of running shoes and walk. Breathe deeply and put one foot in front of another.
My exercise of choice is yoga. It helps keep my joints loosened up, and my back stretched. It also encourages me to breathe deep and long, which oxygenates the brain and encourages relaxation.
The important point here is to get off the couch, turn off the television, and be active!
- Take the dog for a walk.
- Ride a bike.
- Walk up a stairwell in your building at work.
- Park further away to get groceries.
- Join a fitness club if it helps you stay active.
- Ask a friend to walk with you! This will increase the chances of your success.
- Play catch with your son or daughter or kick a ball around.
It doesn’t have to be a regimented workout program. Do what you love and enjoy doing it is the key to being active!
Remember though: If you are beginning any activity program it is important to check with your doctor to ensure it is right for you!
All the best and remember to live in the “Rhythm of Life” and connect to the greatness that lies within for your utmost success and vitality!
