Music is not only enjoyable to listen to, it can actually help us feel better.
As you know from my horseback riding accident and acquired brain injury, I became highly sensitive to sounds. I rarely listened to music but lately I’ve been jamming and singing to my favourite tunes!
It doesn’t matter if it is country, rock, blues or whatever you like, music you love is a sure way to help lift your mood and a positive mood is a resilient one!
When we sing along with our favourite song we are telling the brain “Hey I’m happy, I’m relaxed, I’m feeling good, I’m resilient”! This is a fun and uplifting way to calm the chaos in our lives and experience your B.E.S.T. results now for a steady, calm and performing strong life.
In Dr. Amen’s book, Change Your Brain Change Your Life, he states that singing in the shower can heal and enhance your temporal lobes and lift your mood. It doesn’t matter if you are a rock star or not—it has been well supported that singing enhances your brain and your life.
So sing along with your own favourite tunes and feel enlivened, be more engaged, and even enjoying all the “to do” list tasks you have to do today. As the 7 Dwarfs tell us … “Just whistle while you work … Hum a merry tune, It won’t take long when there’s a song to help you set the pace, When hearts are high the time will fly So whistle while you work!” (via Disneyclips.com)
I bet that song is running through your mind now! Come on just smile, sing and whistle while you work!
